  • Amazon Cuts Another 9,000 Jobs in 2023

Amazon again cuts 9,000 jobs to save costs. As per the reports, the online retail firm employs 1.5 million people worldwide. It said cuts would fall mainly in the areas including advertising and computing.

The reports did not reveal which countries will get affected. But it mentioned the positions would be closed for some days only. As per the information, the firm has already axed 18,000 jobs in January 2023.

According to Boss Andy Jassy, the firm chooses to be more streamlined with costs and headcount due to the uncertain economy. In protest to the actions taken by Amazon, UK Amazon workers took a second day of the strike. Also, the firm calls its staff back to the office three days a week.

Recently, the sales of Amazon have slowed down due to the lower expenditure by consumers because of the inflation or the cost-of-living crisis. Again, Google and Meta are also grappling with balancing cost-cutting measures to remain competitive in the market.

Meta has also announced that it might cut 10,000 jobs soon. Amazon recently bought Twitch for $1 billion in 2014. Twitch, a live-streaming platform for gaming and music, is also expected to see cuts.
