Wrestles against Excessive Solar Power Generation

Solar energy is the most significant source of renewable energy for electricity generation. The clean energy transition aims to power industries and homes with clean electricity. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for solar energy globally in 2024. However, some countries, such as China, deal with excess renewable production. Further, the studies show California will struggle with excess solar power generation in 2024. It is the primary concern of California's energy sector as it can lead to waste if not stored properly.

Advanced storage systems in the energy sector are equally important to clean energy generation. It is hard to continue the energy transition without the proper storage infrastructure for energy produced from renewables. California is going through a hard time in energy storage in 2024. California's energy sector lacks advanced storage infrastructure. Hence, it will produce a solar energy surplus for California's renewable energy sector in 2024.

Further, it is surprising for California as it struggled with solar power generation. Studies show other vulnerabilities in the American electricity sector. California's excess electricity from solar energy is due to many reasons. Firstly, the energy sector produces more energy than the present population of California. Additionally, California's significant investment in the energy sector is an essential cause of excessive solar power.

Therefore, lack of proper storage infrastructure in the energy sector and lack of energy utilization are the main factors driving California's piling up of solar energy. During the peak hours of the day, solar energy production is higher in California. Hence, it built up excessive solar energy in the state in 2024. The overgeneration of solar power in California forces the power grids to reduce solar power operations. Further, the less developed storage systems to store solar power will significantly increase solar capacity in 2024.

The graph shows California generates excess solar power production till May 2024:
